G&M Electrics installs home and workplace EV chargers across Merthyr Tydfil and South Wales, typically from £700 to £1,000 supplied and fitted. Where your existing board cannot take the extra load we fit a separate compact consumer unit for the charger, so you get a safe, compliant install without upgrading the whole house.
A home charge point is the easiest way to run an electric car. We install wall-mounted chargers at homes and workplaces across Merthyr Tydfil and the wider South Wales area, sizing the unit and the cable to your car and your daily mileage so charging is quick and hassle free.
Every install starts with a look at your existing supply and consumer unit. If your board has the capacity we wire the charger straight in. Your power is normally off for around three hours while we carry out the change. We work efficiently to get you back up and running as quickly as possible.
Older boards offer far less protection than a modern unit and can trip for no clear reason. A new consumer unit adds RCD and surge protection, brings your installation up to current standards and makes your home safer.
Yes. Once the new board is in we test the full installation, hand you a certificate and talk you through what has been done.
Not necessarily. Constant tripping is often caused by an old board or a single faulty circuit rather than the whole installation. We can find the fault and, in many cases, a new consumer unit sorts it without the cost of a full rewire.
